While Yuzu is no longer actively developed, we continue to support its community by making its resources available to future developers, enthusiasts, and gamers looking to learn about and enjoy the Nintendo Switch experience.

History Of Yuzu

Yuzu was created in 2018 by a group of developers from the company “Tropic Haze LLC,” the same team that created the 3DS emulator Citra. Yuzu’s early development was led by a developer known as “bunnei.” Yuzu grew in popularity over time, adding features such as multiplayer, improved support for Switch games, and Nvidia and AMD GPU compatibility.

Yuzu is an open-source project written in C++ and released under the GPLv2, allowing the emulation community to collaborate. It supports three major platforms, including Windows, Linux, and Android, making it one of the most popular Switch emulators. Unfortunately, development was officially abandoned in March 2024, after Nintendo sued the developers and settled for $2.4 million.

When the official Yuzu repositories were removed, a group known as “Suyu” forked the code and continued to develop it. This website was created as a fan-made platform to preserve, educate, and provide information about Yuzu, including its history and legacy. We are not affiliated with the original Yuzu developers or Nintendo.
